No doubt, it is environmentally friendly to ride a bike. However, riding a bike at night it is not very safe. As per an estimate, every year, around 19,000 cyclists are killed or injured in road accidents across the UK.

To reduce crash-related injuries, Volvo designed the water-based “LifePaint.” The Swedish car manufacturer and UK design firm Grey London (now Valenstein & Fatt) have partnered with Swedish start-up Albedo100 to create this paint. It is a water-based spray paint that will light up cyclists at night.

Unlike paints, it is washable and lasts 10 days after application. This spray-on product keeps the cyclists safe and visible on the streets at night. One can spray it on clothes, a cyclist’s helmet, shoes, coat, trousers, bike’s frame, strollers, children’s backpacks, even dog leashes and collars, but should avoid it on leather, nylon, and plastic.

Nick Connor, managing director at Volvo Car UK, said, “At Volvo, we believe that the best way to survive a crash is not to crash, and are committed to making the roads a safer place by reducing the number of accidents.”
