A startup called Eurekite has developed a new flexible ceramic film that can be bent back and forth, similar to paper.

Generally, ceramics are highly crystalline, brittle, strong, and heat resistant, so the fact that Eurekite’s ceramic film is bendable is extremely unusual.

In addition, the startup’s new film supposedly retains the positive qualities of ceramics—including that of heat insulation—while also being flexible.

The company claims its flexible ceramic film can be manufactured in thicknesses ranging from “a few micrometers to over a millimeter,” and believes the material could eventually be used in normal printed circuit boards.
