Researchers at the University of Stuttgart in Germany have managed to 3D-print a micro camera capable of being injected into the body with a syringe.
Scientists believe the three-lens micro camera, which is merely .12 millimeters wide, can be used in order to explore areas of the body that other bigger cameras cannot reach.
In addition, the micro camera, which is smaller than a grain of salt, can be used to provide “autonomous vision” to surveillance machines and devices.
If the micro camera can indeed find applications within healthcare, its ability to snap images inside of the brain and human organs could prove to be revolutionary.
Other potential applications for the micro camera include drones, robotics, illumination systems, and miniature security devices.
