The new cloud-based system, featuring a wearable biosensor with chest-based SpO2, will enable active patient monitoring across hospital and out-of-hospital care settings. It is the new solution to replace time-consuming manual spot-checking with continuous, near real-time active patient monitoring.
LifeSignals, a supplier of innovative wireless solutions for healthcare systems, has announced that the company’s UbiqVue 2A Multiparameter System has received FDA Class II 510(k) clearance, which consists of a single-use, all-in-one wearable device to collect oxygen saturation data from the chest. This also marks a significant milestone in continuous wireless patient monitoring for managing population health.
The key feature of the system is the UbiqVue 2A Biosensor, a single-use, all-in-one wearable device allowing SpO2 to be continuously collected from the chest together with other biodata to issue a total of 12 other monitored parameters, including 2-channel ECG, pulse rate, PPG, respiration rate, body temperature, and motion.
The encrypted data is securely delivered from the Biosensor through a relay app or an access point to a secure cloud-based system. All the processes take place in near real-time.
In addition, the system can also be used in home, remote, and hospital settings to continuously monitor patients’ physiological data which will improve patient safety. Therefore, it can also replace laborious and potentially inaccurate spot-checks.
Professionals in healthcare or care providers can also access continuous vital signs from anywhere by accessing the UbiqVue web portal and getting alert notifications. As designed to be compatible with clinical workflows, the UbiqVue has the ability of seamless integration and scalability across healthcare systems.
According to Saravanan Balasubramanian, VP of Medical Technology & Regulatory Operations, the system combines the critical parameters of a bedside monitor with a low-cost, single-use Biosensor that will provide streamlined care. Not only that, the company also addresses SpO2 accuracy across diverse skin tones.
UbiqVue is a promising product that could reshape individual patient care and population health strategies. In addition, it also reinforces the company’s mission to deliver innovative wireless solutions for healthcare systems globally.
LifeSignals partnered with BioIntelliSense to carry out the white light spectral SpO2 technology to offer reliable, continuous SpO2 monitoring and accurate performance across all skin tones in a chest-worn Biosensor.
