Offshore wind company Dong Energy will be in charge of constructing the world’s biggest wind farm, which will be located off the coast of Yorkshire in northern England.

The massive wind farm will feature 174 wind turbines, all over 600 feet tall, and span 160 square miles in total.

It is estimated that the world’s biggest wind farm will produce 1.2 gigawatts of power, capable of powering upwards of one million homes!

While Dong Energy envisions the wind turbines being ready to roll by 2020, there is still a lot of work to be done.

Some 2,000 people are needed to help contribute to the design and construction of the farm, not to mention the fact that the UK government has already committed over $200 million to the project.

While it may sound like an expensive endeavor, it is promising to see more and more countries moving towards non-polluting sources of energy.
