Bose Is Creating Augmented Reality Glasses With an Audio Focus

Augmented reality glasses have been a focus in the tech industry for years, with Google Glass being the most notable product in recent memory.

However, there is yet to be a pair of smart glasses to really take off yet, so Bose is taking a different approach.

Known mostly for its headphones, Bose is taking its audio prowess and applying to its own pair of augmented reality glasses by adding an “audible layer of information and experiences.”

So what could augmented reality glasses with a sonic emphasis be used for? Bose believes the glasses could be helpful in a number of ways, for example talking a user through directions or even translating a sign or information you read in a foreign language.

The glasses are the first step in the wider ambitions of Bose to create an entire AR platform audio AR for developers to build off. In fact, Bose says that its AR platform can “be built into headphones, eyewear, helmets and more.”
